Kanchi seer arriving in city today
Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham
Jayendra Saraswati, who had initiated a peace process between Hindus and
Muslims on Ram temple issue, will be visiting the state on Wednesday and
Thursday.

Sri Shankaracharya Swamigal here in Ahmedabad informed that the primary
aim of the Shankaracharya’s visit is spiritual. "He is coming
here in connection with the 50th peetharohana swarna jayanti mahotsava
of the Kanchi Kamakoti Math.
The Shankaracharya is scheduled
to visit Somnath on Wednesday morning to conduct bhoomipuja of Adi Shankara
temple. He will give public darshan in Ahmedabad on the same evening at
Tagore hall. Chief minister Narendra Modi and Pramukh Swami Maharaj of
BAPS would also be present at the public function.
On Thursday, he will be present
at the main centre of math in state on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway
near Gota. The Shankaracharya plans to build a full-fledged centre on
9,000-sq. metre land given by the state government to the math. The math
has already built Kanchi Shankara public school with the state of the
art construction proposes to provide elementary education in English
and Gujarati medium. They
plan to build a Vedapathashala with certified courses in advanced learning
of Vedas, along with accommodation facilities.
The math also plans to construct
Adi Shankara temple at the centre on the Sarkhej-Gnahdinagar highway.
However, Mr Jayant Trivedi
of the math denied that Shankaracharya will be conducting parleys with
either the VHP or state BJP regarding the Ram temple issue.
